Our Past:
WFTP Radio Network started out as a simple hobby for Sean, the founder of our station. As a young man, he enjoyed playing country music and love songs from his bedroom. When internet radio became popular, Sean took his passion online, and WFTP Radio Network quickly evolved into a Top 40/Contemporary Hit Radio (CHR) station, since that was the most popular format at the time. To help listeners connect, Sean also created an IRC channel for the station. As the station grew, Sean launched his own Weekly Top 40 countdown show and welcomed a few other DJs to host their own programs on WFTP Radio Network. However, as broadcasting costs increased in the mid-2010s and there was no advertising income or donations to cover the expenses, Sean faced the tough decision to take the station offline, hoping to bring it back in the future.
Our Present:
Even though the radio station isn’t currently on air, Sean chose to keep the domain name for several reasons. In the late 2010s, Sean began streaming gaming videos, and for a short time, WFTP Radio Network was renamed WFTP Media Network to cover all the different types of media Sean might use. However, since Sean didn’t want to change the domain name and was using the name WFTP Radio Gamer on his video channel, this ended up causing some branding conflicts and confusion for the website visitors. Because there’s still hope to bring back the radio station someday, the decision was made to go back to the original name, WFTP Radio Network. Although there might still be a bit of confusion, this seemed like the best solution, and the purpose of this page is to help explain what WFTP Radio Network is all about right now.
Our Future:
As mentioned before, we hope to bring the radio station back online someday and once again offer you Arizona’s Best Variety. Right now, it’s tough to say exactly what that will look like or when it might happen. The future is full of possibilities, so we’re dreaming big! Sean also hopes to grow our game streaming and reality video content, and maybe even explore new types of media and content.
